How Futoriq English works

Futoriq English is built on established second-language acquisition research, not on guesswork. Every part of the product maps to a principle that studies have shown actually moves a learner from A0 to C2. Here is what we use and why.

A real CEFR syllabus, from A0 to C2

The course follows the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Instead of a random pile of topics, you get a cumulative spine: every lesson has a defined can-do goal (I can introduce myself, I can handle a job interview), the exact grammar it teaches, the core frequency vocabulary it introduces, and the errors it pre-empts. Because the syllabus is fixed and pedagogically designed, the AI never has to improvise what you should learn next; it only explains the fixed plan in your language and grounds it in your real life.

Adaptive placement (computer adaptive testing)

Before you start, an adaptive test estimates your ability across several skills: grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, writing and speaking. Like the tests used by serious exam boards, it adjusts difficulty to your answers, so a strong learner is not bored with easy items and a beginner is not overwhelmed. That gives a far more accurate starting level than a fixed quiz, and it drops you into the course at exactly the right place.

Comprehensible input and the communicative approach

Research from Krashen onwards shows we acquire language mainly by understanding messages slightly above our current level. Lessons therefore lead with meaning, use plenty of examples, and keep grammar in service of communication rather than as an end in itself. You practice language you can actually use, not isolated rules.

Retrieval practice and spaced repetition

The most robust finding in the science of learning is that recalling something strengthens memory far more than re-reading it. Futoriq turns learning into active retrieval: you produce answers, and vocabulary and structures come back on a spaced schedule so they move into long-term memory. Each lesson deliberately spirals back to earlier ones, which is why the course is cumulative rather than a list of forgotten topics.

Contrastive analysis for your first language

Many mistakes are predictable from your mother tongue. A Czech speaker struggles with articles and word order in ways a Spanish speaker does not. Lessons include a direct contrast with your first language, so we can warn you about exactly the traps that catch speakers of your language and explain the difference clearly.

AI personalization done responsibly

We use current large language models to personalize the fixed syllabus: to explain each point in your language, to build examples around your job, interests and goals, and to target the specific errors you keep making. The pedagogy is fixed and researched; the model handles explanation and personalization, not the curriculum design. That combination keeps every lesson on-level and complete while still feeling like it was written for you.

Immediate, specific feedback

Feedback works best when it is immediate and explains why. Every exercise is graded with a short, concrete explanation, better-word suggestions and pronunciation tips, and your weak areas feed directly back into future practice and review lessons.

One lesson a day, on purpose

Spacing beats cramming. The default pace is one focused lesson a day so material has time to settle and the spaced-repetition schedule can do its work. Little and often builds a habit and produces durable learning.
